Big Desert: The 3.0L Turbo-Diesel Story

A new 3.0L Turbo-Diesel spent thousands of hours on the dyno before it ever saw a track. Then it went into the TANK 500 and Cannon Alpha, and back out to the Big Desert to find out what that was worth. Soft sand, a full load on the back, and a Border Track that changes its mind every visit.

Big Desert: Dunes vs the TANK 300

The TANK 300 Hi4-T has already knocked over Beer O'Clock Hill and the High Country, so we found it something softer: the Big Desert's sculpted dunes and the notorious Border Track. Tyres down, sand mode on, and lunch on top of the big dune powered by the car itself.

Beer O'Clock Hill: Back for More

In 2025 the Cannon XSR, TANK 300 Diesel and Cannon Alpha Hi4-T all fought their way to the summit to earn the title of Beer O'Clock Hill Certified. In 2026 we went back with the TANK 300 PHEV, the TANK 500 PHEV, and a third contender we didn't announce.

Victorian High Country: Busting the Hybrid Myth

Steep climbs, rocky steps and relentless water crossings make the Crooked River Track exactly the wrong place, so the theory goes, to bring a hybrid. So we took three: the Cannon Alpha PHEV, TANK 300 PHEV and TANK 500 PHEV.
